Biosol: The All-Organic Natural Fertilizer

Biosol is a 100% organic long lasting fertilizer with soil improving consequences. Biosol has a balanced nutrition ratio and supplies the plant with micro- and macronutrients throughout the whole growing period. Building the organic matter and humus allows the soil to become active, allowing the nutrients to be available for plant intake. It is the high organic material in the Biosol that improves the humus content of the soil in addition to providing quality nutrients for plants. The soil is enriched, rooting is strengthened and the growing and vitality of your turf is increased, while strengthening the plants resistance against disease. Biosol lacks salt and is therefore suitable for greenhouse crops and arid/low precipitation areas. The risk of nitrate leaching is very low because of the organic fixation of the nutrients and nitrogen, providing the ultimate use of nutrients (see Nitrogen release graph). Biosol is a safe and ecological fertilizer because of the selected raw materials and added vitamins. Since Biosol is 100% organic, it is safe to use around children and animals.

Promoting healthy soil and plants:

In addition to being
100% natural and environmentally balanced, Biosol promotes good health for both plants and soil. In fact, Biosol was developed in the same way as slow release vitamins. Biosol's slow release formula will not burn seed or existing vegetation and it does not require watering immediately after application. Nutrients are released continuously throughout the growing cycle, reducing maintenance costs associated with lesser quality fertilizers, which require numerous applications. Because of its low pH, nutrients are more readily available for plant uptake, rather than being bound in the soil. One of the key factors of Biosol is its ability to promote a healthy balance of microbes, insuring the long-term green color and health of your turf and plants while controlling thatch. This unique blend of nutrients enables Biosol to stimulate root development, enabling plants of all kinds to fully absorb essential nutrients for longevity and maximum health. Biosol enriches the soil, enhances the volume of positive microbial biomass, and promotes the formation of humus, all of which results in a healthier, stronger, greener turf, trees, shrubs and plants. Biosol has a harmless, typical fungal smell that disappears a few days after application.

Usable Applications:

Biosol is a proven product for enhancing all types of terrain. Superior results have been achieved in several golf courses around the world, sports fields, and recreational facilities, commercial and residential lawns, gardens, flowers, trees, wood and forest cultivation, revegetation of ski runs and slopes, and many different forms of agricultural farming (viticulture, silviculture, etc.). Biosol is frequently used for both primary and secondary fertilization and for stimulating soil microorganisms. Biosol can be dry broadcast or applied with a hydroseeder. Used under favorable conditions, only one annual application of Biosol is needed for maximum results. Biosol is produced in a greens grade so that it may be used from "Tee to Green" on your golf course.

Release of N from organic amendments in sand leaching columns. Each organic material is loaded at a rate equivalent to 30 kg N ha-1 and was leached twice weekly with 1.4 pore volumes of distilled water. Key to treatments: Data are means of three replicate columns. (Hogan MP and Claassen VP 1996. Agronomy Abstracts, Indianapolis, IN)

PROPERTIES:

Biosol® is a natural, environmentally safe fertilizer with high organic content. Biosol® is a long acting, slow release fertilizer with a well blended nutrient ratio which stimulates micro organisms. Biosol® is dried, pelletized, and bagged for convenient transportation, storage and application.

Biosol® is used in revegetation projects, such as Road Cuts, Mining Reclamation, High Altitude Revegetation etc.. Some other uses are Lawns, Gardens, Flowers, Trees, Viticulture (cultivation of grapes), Silviculture, Vegetable Growing and "Organic Cropping".

California Certified Organic Farmers, Inc. has approved and certified Biosol® for use in organic farming. It has also been approved for organic farming in Washington, Oregon and Massachusetts.

MANUFACTURE:

During the manufacture of penicillin, a fungal biomass (mycelium) is obtained by the fermentation of raw materials such as: soybean meal, cottonseed meal, sucrose, lactose, trace elements and vitamins under constant sterile conditions. The fungus strain used is Penicillium Chrysogenum. After the penicillin is removed, the remaining biomass is dried at 110 to 130° C for 3 to 4 hours. During this process the residual antibiotic is eliminated and the moisture is reduced by 3 to 6%. Then, 3% potassium-magnesia, from a naturally occurring source, is added to the dried biomass (dry mycelium). Finally, the mixture is granulated and placed in 55-pound (25 kg) recyclable plastic bags. Biosol® is sterilized and free of weed seeds.

COMPOSITION:

96% fungal biomass (dry mycelium), 1% water, and 3% potassium-magnesia.
